Speed & Spatiotemporal Analysis – with Ryde Athletics Club
We recently went out to meet with Ryde Athletics to trial our Speed and Spatiotemporal Analysis package at the ANSW Centre of Excellence. This cutting-edge testing combines GPS tracking and high-speed video to provide athletes and coaches with deeper insight into sprint performance.
Athletes wear a lightweight GPS bib during a normal sprint effort, allowing us to capture:
Speed profiles across the run
Step length and frequency
Ground contact and flight times
Segment time splits and peak velocity (including exactly where it occurs)
Each athlete receives two reports:
Maximal Velocity Report - typically from a 60 m sprint, with detailed analysis of upright sprinting in the final 10 m (or earlier for younger athletes). This gives a reliable picture of peak speed and sprint mechanics once athletes are fully upright.
10 m Acceleration Report - a step-by-step breakdown of the first 10 metres, showing step length, ground contact time, flight time, and step frequency. This provides valuable insight into how athletes produce and apply force in the critical acceleration phase.
Together, these reports give coaches a clear, easy-to-read profile of sprint performance, helping to identify movement inefficiencies, monitor progress, and target specific areas for improvement.
If your club or athletes are interested in accessing this type of testing, please reach out to us to learn more.
“A big thank you to the team at ANSW COE with the recent acceleration testing for our squad.
From planning to implementation - the process was inclusive and professional with some valuable input and insight which is so very valuable for us.
The informative and thorough spatiotemporal reports are of a professional standard and provide us with crucial information regarding our athletes acceleration patterns.
The quick turn-around time of the detailed reports is appreciated as is Lorenzo’s willingness to assist and explain results enabling us to make necessary changes for our athletes.
As always the team at the ANSW COE delivers an ‘athlete-first’ quality product and we look forward to a continued association with you and your team.”
